Willingham 5 aside Tournament U12 Winners - June 12th 2011 The Group Stage First was against Plantation Youth. Spartak got off to a great start and were soon dominating the game with some great passing and moving two quick good goals by George Storey saw Spartak off to winning ways winning 2-0. Next up was Newmarket A. Again Spartak started well and when George Crawte scored from his own half, Spartak looked in control but then two lapse in concentration saw Newmarket eventually win 2-1. Next Aztec Juniors A. Another good start and a goal from George Storey saw Spartak yet again take the lead but like the game before they conceded two scrappy goal to record another 2-1 defeat. Next Willingham Wolves. This was a must win match after two loses and the boys done what they need with another two goals from George Storey and Freddie Jones on the score sheet to secure a 3-0 win. Final group game was against Haverhill Rovers. With only the top two going through and Spartak in third place the game against Haverhill was a must win to put pressure on Aztec A who were playing Plantation in the last game. Spartak went out hard and were soon one up from another George Storey goal, Oliver Mansfield then made it two and another from George Storey wrapped up this 3-0 win. Spartak had done their part and now all eyes were on Plantation to see if they could help us into the semi’s which they duly did with a 1-0 win (thanks Sam for some great saves). Semi Final against Newmarket B A great start and a goal from Oliver Mansfield settled the nerves he soon netted a second and then a George Silvester strike made it 3-0, then yet another goal from George Storey following a long pass from Josh Bates wrapped up this comfortable win 4-0. Final against Haverhill B A very tight game saw both sides go close but no goals in the first half. Second half was a bit more open but still no goals saw the game go into extra time golden goal, but you could see both teams wanted to win but not lose, so the game ended 0-0 and now went to penalty shoot-out. First up was Matt Tucker who dragged his pen wide. Well done boys !! A great team performance all day. |
